All German car enthusiasts are invited to help the German Car Club of Kansas celebrate not only our state’s sesquicentennial, but also the 125th anniversary of the automobile (!) at our 4th annual Sonnenblumen Autofest, on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Salina's Thomas Park will once again welcome entrants who bring any sort of vehicle which is mainly of German origin, as we have 16 classes for everything from Audi to VW, including buggies & bikes, tractors & trikes, plus "Best Of" awards for show, engine, interior, paint, campsite, as well as, "Least-likely-to-win-best-of-show". Entrants' votes will decide three winners in each of the 16 classes. The entry fee is just $10 for your first vehicle and $5 for each additional one you bring! There will be plenty of reasonably-priced food and drink available on-site. As in the past three years, there will be free camping Friday and Saturday nights, live music throughout the day, kids' activities, vendors, a silent auction, and, we hope, a return appearance of our very own St. Pauli Girls! So just show up by noon at Thomas Park, 1 km. south of I-70 Exit 252 on 9th St. in Salina! Call 785-577-5033 for more info. Click Here for directions ---> View Larger Map
The German Car Club of Kansas was organized in the Fall of 2004 to bring together for fun, education, and mutual support, those who profess an abiding interest in the history, uses, and preservation of vehicles of German origin, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Opel, Porsche, and VW, as well as other marques perhaps no longer in production. Stewardship of such a vehicle is strongly encouraged, but not required for membership. Our Annual dues are only $12 and cover the printing and postage costs for the newsletter, while sales of the GCCK shirts, hats, and car badges help defray other club expenses. We encourage you to join more than 100 members of the German Car Club of Kansas. We look forward to meeting you, your family and your cars! GCCK members participate in 20-25 activities annually.
